Rockford, IL- Rockford Speedway officials announced an Economic Stimulus Package like no other for Super Late Model teams participating in the 43rd National Short Track Championships at Rockford Speedway September 26-28. The first forty teams to file the fifty dollar entry for this historic event will receive four Hoosier tires, a one hundred twenty five dollar Sunoco Racing Fuel credit plus a reserved pit stall for the weekend once they arrive at the event.
Entry forms will become available the week of August 18, teams wishing to be added to the mailing list are encouraged to call Rockford Speedway at 815-633-1500. This race will again utilize area Super Late Model rule packages which will be thoroughly outlined in the National Short Track Championships Competition Guide, teams will be given the option of using a four or two barrel carburetor for this four tire, 200 lap contest which will pay $500 to start and $2500 to win in addition to the above Economic Stimulus Package.
Last year’s running witnessed Jeremy Lepak top an action packed field after a final 50 lap showdown unmatched in the sixty year history of the speedway, located just west of I-90 on IL 173 in Northern Illinois. Names such as Mark Martin, Dick Trickle, Ramo Scott, Joe Shear, Junior Hanley, Butch Miller, Steve Carlson, Eddie Hoffman, Dave Watson and Jim Sauter have all worn the winner’s wreath in victory lane, who will wear the wreath in 2008?
This year’s running will feature twelve divisions over the three day affair, concluding with the ARMY National Guard 200 lap Super Late Model Championship feature on Sunday afternoon.
