LOVES PARK, IL (Sunday, April 19, 2009) -- The 32nd annual Spring Classic scheduled for today at the Rockford Speedway has been postponed due to inclement weather that moved into the area earlier this morning. The event will now take place next Sunday, April 26th, and will feature the BRP Big 8 Series presented by Gandrud Chevrolet in their season-opening SPYDER 108 and the Mid-American Stock Car Series taking on the high-banked quarter-mile in a 50 lap bout.
The schedule next Sunday will follow the same format, with spectator gates opening at 11 a.m., qualifying beginning at 11:15 a.m. and racing getting underway at 1 p.m. Pit passes, tickets and coupons which were distributed for the April 19th event will still be honored next Sunday, April 26th for the Spring Classic.
Thirty-eight Big 8 Series cars took to the track on Saturday for practice and many more are expected to return next Sunday, along with a strong Mid-American Stock Car Series contingent for the postponed event.
