Mother Nature Wins As Rockford's Rained Out Again

By Jordan Kuehne

LOVES PARK, IL (Sunday, April 26, 2009) – Mother Nature just doesn’t want to see any racing at Rockford Speedway this weekend as inclement weather has once again forced the cancellation of a season-opening event, this time the 32nd annual Spring Classic. The event will not be rescheduled for a third time after weather forced a postponement last Sunday as well. Over a half an inch of rain had already fallen overnight and showers were expected to continue throughout the day forcing the cancellation.

For those who bought a pit pass or an advance ticket, please send it to:
Rockford Speedway ATTN: Spring Classic, P.O. Box 1000, Rockford, IL 61105 for a refund or it can be used as credit towards the 2009 season at Rockford Speedway. Fans who bought an advance ticket for the Spring Classic are welcome to stop by the track or mail their tickets to the above address.

Racing at the Rockford Speedway will resume next Saturday night as the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series will take on the high-banked quarter-mile. The NASCAR Stanley Steemer Late Models, Budweiser American Short Trackers, and Mountain Dew RoadRunners will all be in action, as well as the Sam’s Drive-in Pinata Race and the Darkhorse Super Mod and Fair Class Demo Derbies will be taking the track as well. It’s USG Family Night as two paid adults and up to four paid children will cost just $20. The green flag will fly on the 2009 season at 7:07 p.m., with qualifying at 6:05 p.m. and spectator gates opening at 5 p.m.

For more information, please visit the track’s website at www.rockfordspeedway.com or call the Speedway Box Office at (815) 633-1500.
