Frisch Fires Back for the Win on Wild Wednesday

By Jordan Kuehne

LOVES PARK, IL. (Wednesday, July 15, 2009) – Chargin' Charlie Frisch made his move in the latter stages of the race to take second place in the 25-lap Mtn Dew RoadRunners feature and collected the win after Joe LaMarca was disqualified in post-race inspection tonight at the Rockford Speedway. Allen Bekielewski made a late race move, diving in front of Jake Vicencio with two laps remaining to grab the victory in the Crap Scrappers Hornets swarm. Paul Fusco, Rachael Pinkerman, Robin Ulrey, Tom Schneider and Dwight Dunlap also collected feature wins.

Jeff Allendorf grabbed the early lead in the 25-lap Mtn Dew RoadRunners Super Summer Series main event. Allendorf held onto the top spot for the first ten laps when Joe LaMarca made the outside line work in turns one and two, completing the pass for the lead entering turn three.

LaMarca was comfortably out front when “Chargin” Charlie Frisch cut through traffic into second place. Frisch slowly ate away at LaMarca’s lead, catching him with three circuits remaining and working the low line to try and complete the pass.

LaMarca held off a last gasp effort from Frisch on the final lap and crossed the finish line first. He wouldn't end there though as "Chargin" Charlie picked up the victory when LaMarca's car failed post-race inspection resulting in disqualification.

Gene Marocco, Allendorf, Jason Brockway and Lloyd Hawkins rounded out the top five.

Allen Bekielewski traded the lead with Jake Vicencio twice over the final seven laps in the 15-circuit Crap Scrappers Hornets swarm. It was Vicencio who took the lead on a late race restart with four laps remaining, but Bekielewski was the one who nabbed the spoils of victory, sliding up in front of Vicencio in turn one with two laps remaining.

Bekielewski managed to hold off the crossover move by Vicencio and collect another victory and pad his points lead in the division.

Nick Lasher, Randy Reynolds and Mark Vicencio completed the top five.

Rachael Pinkerman proved victorious in the 20-lap main event for the INEX Legends as she held off a charge from Chris Lishamer for her second victory this season.

Kyle Jusits, Bobby Yonkee and Johnny Magnuson Jr. finished the top five.

The 15-lap Allison Legacy headliner went to a hungry Dwight Dunlap who held off Mark Hayes for his fourth win in five tries this season. Dunlap suffered his first setback of 2009 two weeks ago to Hayes, who tried to keep his momentum going in the late stages of the race. Hayes was forced to settle for second however when his late race bid for the win fell short.

Bill Fox and Brian Heaberlin finished third and fourth respectively.

Robin Ulrey boosted her points lead and collected another trophy winning the 12-lap Stateline Staffing Services Winged Women on Wheels feature. Ulrey managed to stave off Olivia Chance’s late race action to pick up the victory.

Felisha Morgan, Jackie Fox and Chandale Swartout were the rest of the top five.

Paul Fusco took the lead early and never looked back in the INEX Bandoleros main event. Tristan Batson made a last lap pass for second to edge out Morgan Melichar at the line while Joshua James, the heat race winner, was forced to retire in fourth place due to a mechanical failure.

Tom Schneider kept his record spotless in 2009, picking up his fourth feature victory in the National Figure 8 League. Schneider made a late race move with two laps remaining passing Justin Hawkins for the lead after sending Justin’s father Lloyd around just two laps prior.
