Heat race action saw Jon Reynold Jr. wanting to sit on top of Randy Sargents car. Reynolds was able to continue however Sargent retired to the pits for repairs.

BJ Sparkman saw his racer without a body shell as he was involved in a smashing crash as he sat helpless in the middle of turn 1 and 2. BJ was not injured.
