Geese Depart Infield, Rockford Practice Starts Saturday

Loves Park, IL- The four Canadian Geese that sought refuge in the Rockford Speedway infield over the past three weeks have continued their voyage to the north as the weather at the quarter mile facility in northern Illinois continues to warm. Unfortunately for them they will miss out on a free sneak peak of the upcoming 2010 season this Saturday April 3 when teams get their first chance of the year to test the high bank paved oval.

Spectators will gain free access to the grandstands in order to witness the new cars, new drivers and new paint schemes as they are unveiled during the four hour open practice session from 12 noon until 4pm. “We got the car ready to go, it is all new so we really need to get out there Saturday.” Commented former American Short Tracker Champion Mike Lloyd, who is committed to running a full season in NASCAR Stanley Steemer Late Model competition on Saturday nights this season.

Teams will be able to enter the pit area beginning at 10am on Saturday, the cost of entry remains at $20 per person. The first racing action of the season will take place next Saturday April 10 with the running of the Stone and Double T 200 lap Enduro while the 33rd annual Spring Classic featuring the Big 8 Series Late Models and Mid-American Stock Cars will be contested on Sunday afternoon April 18. Weekly Saturday Night NASCAR Whelen All-American Series action will begin April 24 with the 63rd Pepsi Season Opener.
