Rockford Speedway Headed For a Destructive Saturday Night

Loves Park (June 2, 2010) Saturday night will see the return of the Trailer Race of Destruction to the historic ¼ mile track. Chuck Deery, son of Rockford Speedway owner Jody Deery, first introduced the trailer race to America and the spectators at Rockford Speedway in 1984 and it has been a fan favorite since. Deery first encountered the trailer race concept in Europe, and knew they’d be a hit back home. As soon as he returned home he told his brother Tom about the idea and they began preparations for the first trailer race at the Speedway.

“It combines everything people like to see, it’s a sporting event, things get wrecked that normally don’t get wrecked, it’s done in fun and it’s about having fun” Deery said, on why fans love the trailer races.

The racing action Saturday night will also include the Sam’s Drive-In Escape from I-90 race with Stanley Steemer NASCAR Late Models, Bargain Hunter Sportsman, Budweiser American Short Trackers, Mtn Dew RoadRunners and the Kids Mini Grand Prix.
