Rockford Speedway Survives Storms, Destruction Set for Tonight

Loves Park, IL- Severe storms ripped through much of Northern Illinois Friday night, leaving many in the surrounding areas picking up branches and various debris early this morning. Luckily, Rockford Speedway missed the worst of the storms and will be in operation at 7:07pm tonight for the running of the Nason’s Landscaping Trailer Race of Destruction presented by Kar Korner.

A check of all electrical components was successful just before 1pm as track crews quickly pumped rain water from the infield in preparation for tonight’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series program which includes the Stanley Steemer Late Models, Bargain Hunter Sportsman, RoadRunners, Illini Open Wheeled Midgets and the Sam’s Drive-In Hare ‘N Hound Race. “We were fortunate here at the Speedway, many of us have had various power outages and storm damage at our homes, my family included.” Stated Rockford Speedway General Manager Gregg McKarns. “I know my family can’t wait to get away from the hassles at home caused by the storm and take in a great show on a beautiful summer night.”
