Loves Park, IL (July 7, 2010) Saturday night at Rockford Speedway will be action packed with a special treat for spectators. The Green Mamba Jet will be making a return to the historic ¼ mile track, as well as, the Monster Truck Showdown Tailgator vs. Big Dawg, Sensational Smashing Sailboat, World Cup Auto Soccer, Hillbilly Fun with Airbags, the Cat and Mouse Challenge, a Belly Flop Contest, the Convertible Steel Wall Crash, a Street Bike Exhibition, Crap Scrapper Hornets, Kids Mini Grand Prix and the Law Offices of Kim MacCloskey Spectacular Drags, plus the Stop ‘N Go Race and Free Monster Truck Rides.
Doug Rose will be piloting the Green Mamba Jet Car, Rose started driving Jet Cars back in 1962 and continued even after a near fatal wreck in 1966, where Rose lost both legs. After the wreck Rose built the Green Mamba and went on to win over 3,700 races and is an 11 time National Jet Car Champion. Rose’s machine is powered by a J46 jet engine out of a Navy F7U Cutlass Fighter Plane, it burns 37 Gallons of Jet Fuel a minute and has a top speed of over 300 miles per hour.
Monster Truck Rides will be available to children 11 and under from 5:00pm to 6:30 at no cost, and after the nights events for a small fee. Reserved adult admission is $18 and reserved child admission is $9 for children 11 and under. General Admission is $15 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-11 and children 5 and under are admitted free.
