Loves Park, IL (July 21, 2010) The All-Star 100 has a long history at Rockford Speedway, it was first run in 1978 with the ARTGO Series, Dick Trickle won the inaugural event and would go on to win three more times. Other familiar names can be found on the list of past winners including Mark Martin, Bobby Allison, Joe Shear and Ross Kenseth, and 2007 victor Eddie Hoffman who will be competing this Saturday.
Many winners of the All-Star race have gone on to do great things in the upper levels of stock car racing and many of the drivers entered in this Saturday’s event definitely have the talent to do the same. Fourteen year old Erik Jones is leading in the Rookie points. Josh Nelms won the National Short Track Championship at Rockford last year and was the 2007 Rockford Speedway Rookie of the Year. Jordan Sims is the lone Canadian driver in the field and garnered two Canadian championships after an impressive 29 wins in just two years.

The racing action will also include Stanley Steemer NASCAR Late Models, Mtn Dew RoadRunners, Super Cups and the first ever Pizza Pie Race.
