Loves Park, IL- The stars of two of the most intense weekly Late Model point battles of the season will set their sights on capturing the Big 8 Series 108 lap feature event this Saturday night during the 45th annual National Short Track Championships at Rockford Speedway. Current Big 8 Series point leader Jeremy Miller and Bobby Wilberg fought tooth and nail for the Madison International Speedway title while Tim Sargent topped Jon Reynolds, Jr in the weekly point fight at Rockford Speedway.

All four drivers have found success at Rockford during the NSTC event, Reynolds, Jr. adding his name to the history books in 2008, while Miller picked up a win during the 2007 edition. Meanwhile, Sargent and Wilberg have now won track titles at the quarter-mile high banked oval, but neither has captured a Big 8 Series victory, including at Rockford. Two years ago, Sargent was just inches from victory as he and Reynolds, Jr. made contact resulting in Reynolds’ mount to spin across the line claiming the checkers. “We are always running with one another, and when we get together it is usually pretty spectacular, at least we are wrecking for the win.” Commented Sargent.

Spring Classic winner and Jefferson Speedway Champion Casey Johnson, Rockford Showdown Champion Eddie May, former Big 8 Series winner Michael Bilderback, second place points man and 4 time Mid-American Stock Car titlist James Swan, and Rockford winners Tanner Whitten and Kyle Shear are also ones to watch during ‘One Great Racing Weekend’. Racing action during NSTC begins Friday night at 7:07pm featuring Weekly Warrior Late Models, All-American Sportsman, American Short Trackers, RoadRunners, Hornet/Bandit Challenge plus Figure 8’s. In addition to the Big 8 108, Saturday night will feature Super Late Model preliminary events, Area Sportsman, Illini Open Wheeled Midgets and Hobby Stox beginning at 5:05pm. Sunday will see the green flag wave at 12:30pm for the Super Late Model 200 and Mid-American Stock Car 75.
