Loves Park, IL- The 34th Spring Classic at Rockford Speedway will now feature a 108 lap Big 8 Late Model Series presented by Gandrud Chevrolet feature event on Sunday afternoon April 17. The Mid-American Stock Car Series shares the card with a 50 lap feature during the annual Midwest pavement opening event.
New for 2011, all Big 8 Series double file restarts will utilize the ‘Choose’ rule, utilized weekly at many of the nation’s short tracks, including Rockford Speedway. On restarts, the field will be reset in their running order, then be given the option to choose what lane they want to restart the race in, either inside or outside, with the leader out front.
“Fans and drivers had varying opinions about the double file restart method we had in place last season, and after watching the races play out, I think this method which we are quite familiar with, will work tremendously at all the tracks we visit as a series in 2011.” Commented series director Gregg McKarns.
The Official Entry Form for the 108 lap contest is now available online at www.big8series.com. For additional information, including a Spring Classic schedule of events visit www.rockfordspeedway.com.
