Point Fund part of Midget Maynia Tour

Beaver Dam, Wis., April 13---A special four-race $5,000 point fund will add to the excitement of the upcoming Midget Maynia Tour occurring in five weeks at four tracks in Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. Promoter Dan Thiel and STM Promotions recently made the announcement. The four events are part of the 28-race Mopar USAC National Midget Championship.

Action kicks off on Friday Night May 16 with the "Battle in Bluffs" at LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway (West Salem,Wis.). The next evening Saturday May 17 Slinger (Wis.) Speedway hosts the "Second annual Kubota Stan Fox Classic" their first midget auto race since 1989,and first for USAC at the track since 1984. The third and final pavement event will be Sunday afternoon May 18 at Rockford Speedway, marking the first USAC event at the quarter-mile track since Rich Vogler's victory on Aug. 29, 1979.

The final event will be the 7th annual Mid-State Equipment Sue Thiel Memorial on Friday Night May 30 at the lightning quick 1/2-mile dirt track on the Dodge County Fairgrounds (Beaver Dam).The event will be co-sanctioned with the Badger Midget Series, Arizona's Jerry Coons Jr. will be trying for a third straight victory in the event.

Support divisions have been announced for all four events. The Mid American Stock Car Series will compete at LaCrosse. The Illini Midget Racing Series and Formula Indy will compete at Slinger and Rockford. The traditional open competition modified race will again return to the Dodge County Fairgrounds event.

The midget car owner earning the most points will receive a $1,000 bonus with the remainder of the point fund distributed to cars competing in all four events. Lap sponsorships are available for the May 30 and can be reserved by contacting Thiel at (920)-319-0177.
