LOVES PARK, IL (Saturday, May 03, 2008) – Steve Rubeck, George Sparkman, Terrance Robinson, and Tim Brickhouse took home feature wins on USG Night/BOB 95.3 FM Family Night at the Rockford Speedway.

Rubeck, a two-time Spring Classic winner, started on the pole of the 30-lap feature event and quickly showed that being up front was the place to be.

Rubeck would lead a train with Matt Berger, Jerry Gille, and Ricky Bilderback behind him. Berger and Gille would try to use the inside line to gain positions but to no avail.

It became a six lap dash after a caution for the win. Rubeck would get a great jump on the re-start over Berger. Berger would catch back to rear bumper of Rubeck but would run out of time as the checkers flew.

Gille would come home third with Bilderback in fourth. Tim Sargent would have a strong run and come home fifth.

“I knew I had to park that car in the center of the track and hold on,” Rubeck stated. “Matt Berger is a gentleman racer and I appreciate that. I tell you what, the group of guys that race here every week are quality guys and I would race with them at any time.”

Sparkman would take home his first feature win of the year in the Budweiser American Short Tracker division.

Steve Allman would take the early lead in the 25-lap feature event. Sparkman would challenge for the top spot on lap 5 as he would get on the inside of Allman. The two battled side-by-side for the lead for a lap until Allman got loose coming off turn, giving Sparkman the lead.

It became a three car breakaway with Sparkman leading Nick Cina Jr. and Kelly Evink. The three would battle all the way to the checkered flag. Cina would try to find a way to get past Sparkman, but would come up short at the checkered flag. Evink would finish third.

Tim Melvin would hold off BJ Sparkman for fourth.

Robinson grabbed the lead late to take home the Coca-Cola RoadRunner feature.

Gene Marocco took the early lead in the 20-lap feature event. Robinson would make his way to the front and challenge Marocco for the lead on lap 13.

Robinson would easily take over the top spot while Marocco would pull off with engine problems.

Robinson would cruise to the win with Robert Roush in second. Joshua Lundy would make a last lap move to finish third with Vachenzia Jester taking fourth. Jeff Allendorf would round out the top five.

Brockhouse made his trip from Elko, MN a worthwhile one as he would take home the 20-lap INEX Legend feature win.

Brockhouse had a healthy lead until the caution flew on lap 7 when Mitchell Garfield hit the turn four wall causing damage to his ride side. On the re-start, Alex Arelano made a move to the inside to challenge for the lead. The two raced side-by-side for two laps until Brockhouse pulled away and would go on to take the checkered flag.

Arelano would hold on to second. Matt Booker was third with Cody Townsend in fourth. Maxx McNamara rounded out the top five.

On Sunday, it’s Metalwars IV Demolition Derby by Darkhorse Racing featuring Super Modifieds, Compact Cars and Urban Assault Vehicles. The mayhem gets underway at 1:00 pm.

Next Saturday night, it’s Metro Medical Ladies FREE Night with the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series in action. The Stanley Steemer NASCAR Late Models, All-American Sportsman, Budweiser American Short Trackers, Coca-Cola RoadRunners will be in action. The racing action gets underway at 7:07 pm.
