Loves Park, IL- Rockford Speedway announced which tires have been selected for use by each NASCAR Whelen All-American Series division which will see their season begin on Saturday night April 21 during the Bryden Motors Ram Truck Month Season Opener. The only change will come in the NASCAR Stanley Steemer Late Model division which will make the switch back to the Goodyear Short Track Special 2862 and 2863 tires they competed on from 2006 through the 2009 season, the exact tire being used by the Big 8 Late Model Series.

The stock cars of the Bargain Hunter Sportsman will remain on the same Goodyear tire as the Late Models while the Sportsman SportMods will once again utilize the Hoosier 890. American Short Tracker drivers will once again rely on the Hoosier 790 to carry them to victory lane while those competing under the International rules will be allowed the Hoosier 800 13” of 14” tire or remain on a D.O.T. tire as outlined in the Rockford Speedway 2012 Rules. RoadRunners will remain on the popular 16” Goodyear tire that has continuously provided door handle to door handle excitement on the quarter mile high banked oval.

The annual Tire Sale is slated for Thursday April 5 at Rockford Speedway from 5pm until 7pm, however if enough interest is shown, an earlier date may also be selected for an earlier sale. As a reminder the Rockford Speedway Tire Rule will once again be enforced throughout the season, in which drivers become eligible to purchase tires either weekly or bi-weekly depending on their division.

Drivers and teams are urged to attend this Friday night’s (March 2) Orientation Meeting being held at Forest Hills Lodge, adjacent to Rockford Speedway. Doors will open at 5pm with a Rookie Orientation Meeting taking place at 6pm with the General Meeting to follow at 7pm. NASCAR Memberships, RACE Memberships, Car Number Registrations, Pit Slab Rental Agreements, Minor’s Releases and Marketing Materials will be available. A wide range of topics will be discussed to bring teams up to speed on the happenings surrounding the upcoming 2012 season.
