Champions will be crowned this Saturday night September 8 during Whelen NASCAR Championship Night at Rockford Speedway. Jerry Gille, Doug Bennett, Bobby Frisch and Jason VanHise look to add to their title totals while Joey LaMarca appears to be on his way to Championship number one. All four NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions will be in action including the Stanley Steemer Late Models, Bargain Hunter Sportsman, Miller Lite American Short Trackers and RockStar Energy RoadRunners. The final Sam’s Drive-In RoadRunner Challenge of the 2012 season is the Double Spin to Win Race.

Spectator Gates open at 5, qualifying begins at 5:55 with the first race at 7:07pm. Adult tickets are $12, students (ages 12-17) $8, kids (ages 6-11) $5 with children ages five and under are admitted free. Added Bonus Saturday, Late Model Showdown Match Races
The top eight in NASCAR Stanley Steemer Late Model points will go head to head in elimination brackets which have brought the fans to their feet the past two seasons. Current brackets call for the following match-ups in 3 lap showdowns which moves the winner into the next round and the loser packing. The lower seed has lane choice and the Championship Round will be the best two out of three with the lane choice determined by a coin flip.

Hot Handed Hoffman Files Rockford NSTC Entry
Loves Park, IL- By the time Eddie Hoffman and his TK Racing Team take to the track September 28 through 30 at Rockford Speedway for the 47th National Short Track Championships, he could very well have twenty feature wins on the season. Currently Hoffman has six wins at Grundy County Speedway including the Wayne Carter Classic ASA Midwest Tour event and an unbelievable ten wins at Illiana Motor Speedway where he is the current point leader in the hunt for his first Illiana Track Championship to go along with his three Grundy Titles.
No driver in the Midwest that has had a more successful summer, that coupled with his past Rockford Speedway victories will make the National Short Track Super Late Model field take notice of the Lisa Thomas Salon sponsored #8. Three NSTC triumphs belong to the Chicagoland Champ (2001, 2004, 2005) as well as an All-Star 100 victory during the 2007 season. A five year absence from Rockford Victory Lane and the wearing of the Victory Wreath, fails to show that Hoffman is continuously in contention for the win when he travels to Rockford. He currently is tied with Dick Trickle for career NSTC wins at three, trailing Steve Carlson and the late Joe Shear who have eight wins each in this prestigious event.
The National Short Track Super Late Models will highlight the Sunday afternoon September 30 event with the running of a 200 lap feature and will be joined by the Mid-American Stock Cars. Saturday Night will feature the Big 8 Late Model Series in an 108 lap contest while Friday night features the Championship Round of the Gilley’s Cool 5 Series. Over twelve divisions will take to the high banks for ‘One Great Racing Weekend’.
