LOVES PARK, IL (Thursday, September 20, 2012) – Earlier this year, Michael Bilderback picked up what he says is his biggest win in his career by capturing the All-Star 100 victory at Rockford Speedway. He hopes to return to the famous quarter-mile oval later this month and add his name to the prestigious list of National Short Track Championship winners.
“The All-Star 100 win in July, I would say is the biggest in my career so far,” Bilderback recently said. “If I could back that up and win the NSTC 200, that will be my biggest win. Just to win that event and see my name added to the list of past winners would be incredible. I would say that if I didn’t get another win after that, I would have a successful career.”
The young pilot from South Beloit, IL has not had the best luck in recent big events at Rockford Speedway. The All-Star 100 win, he hopes, will be what will turn his luck around. “We have had our run of bad luck at Rockford,” he said. “Maybe our hometown curse has turned around for us. That would be awesome.”
Bilderback also knows that he will be facing stronger competition than with whom he competed against back in July. “There will be more cars and competition at NSTC and I think we will be able to compete with them,” Bilderback said. “Even other local favorites like Brian Johnson Jr., Dan Lensing, Steve Rubeck and those Chicagoland drivers will always be fast and tough.”
This weekend, Bilderback is heading to Mobile International Speedway in Mobile, AL to compete in the Superseal 150 event. He is grateful to Ted and Sherry at Superseal for the sponsorship on his super late model. He will then return to the Midwest and get ready for the 47th Annual National Short Track Championships.
He also wants to thank the Deery family and Gregg McKarns for putting on this annual event.
The Super Late Models will qualify and qualifying races on Saturday, September 29 with the 200-lap main event on Sunday, September 30. Qualifying will get underway at 2:15pm on Saturday with racing underway at 5:05pm. Sunday’s action will get underway at 12:30pm.
The 47th Annual National Short Track Championships will take place on September 28-30 at the historic Rockford Speedway in Loves Park, IL. 12 divisions will be competing over the three days featuring the National Short Track Super Late Models, Big 8 Series, and Mid-American Series.
