47th ANNUAL NATIONAL SHORT TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS IS THREE DAYS OF “ONE GREAT RACING WEEKEND”

LOVES PARK, IL (Friday, September 21, 2012) – The 47th Annual National Short Track Championships will get underway one week from today. Known as “One Great Racing Weekend,” this year’s event will feature 12 action packed divisions competing over the three days.

Race teams competing will get an opportunity to tune up for the weekend with an open practice session on Thursday, Spetember 27 from 5:30 – 9:00pm.

Six divisions will be in action on Friday, September 28 on the famous quarter-mile asphalt oval. This will also be the championship round for the Gilley’s Cool 5 series. The Weekly Warrior Late Models 47-lap feature will highlight the evening’s action. Other feature events include: All-American Sportsman 40, American Short Tracker 40, RoadRunner 40, Hornet Bandit Challenge 25, and the Figure 8 Championship 15.

Nason’s Landscaping “Faster Than a Speeding Bullet” qualifying will get underway at 5:00pm with racing at 7:07pm.

The Big 8 Series will highlight Saturday night’s action on September 29. A 108-lap feature will be contested on the high banks. The Area Sportsman 50, Illini Midgets 50, IL Vintage Racing 20 and the Hobby Stox 30 are the other feature events on the second day of racing. Plus, the Super Late Models will have their qualifying races.

Saturday’s schedule has Nason’s Landscaping “Faster Than a Speeding Bullet” qualifying at 2:15pm followed by a FREE Open Pit Party until 5:30pm. Racing will get underway at 5:05pm.

The final day on Sunday, September 30 will be a busy afternoon of racing starting at 12:30pm. The National Short Track Super Late Models 200 and the Mid-American Series 75-lap feature will provide the incredible racing action that is well known at Rockford Speedway. Plus, the Gerber Collision Challenge will add more excitement to the show.

The Mid-American Series will have their Nason’s Landscaping “Faster Than a Speeding Bullet” qualifying at 11:15am. A fan autograph session will take place from 11:30am to 12:10pm in the Budweiser Pavilion. Opening ceremonies will start at 12:20pm.
