LOVES PARK, IL (Saturday, June 14, 2008) – A great crowd and a great field of cars were on hand for another exciting night of racing and a School Bus Jump at the Rockford Speedway. At the end of the night it was Tim Sargent, Chris Gantz, Gene Marocco, Jeff Myers and Jake Zellmer taking home feature wins.

Sargent grabbed the early lead in the 40-lap feature event for the 23 car feature field for the Stanley Steemer NASCAR Late Models.

Ricky Bilderback started third but fell back early then charged back towards the front where he was back to third at the halfway mark.

Turn two became a parking lot on lap 20 when Matt Mylin, Keith Tolf, Alex Papini, John Sojer, and Jacob Gille were all involved in a crash on the exit of turn two to bring out a red flag.

Sargent continued to lead on the re-start while Bilderback worked his way past Carlson for second with 18 laps to go. Carlson would fall off the pace with a flat tire.

Bilderback would try to get by Sargent for the lead with 10 laps to go, but Sargent would hold on to the lead on the outside. With five laps to go, Bilderback would take a high line off of turn four and dive low under Sargent to try for the lead. But, Sargent had a lot of momentum off of the corners that he would hold on to the top spot.

Bilderback would try the move again on the last lap but would get loose off of turn two allowing Sargent to secure the win over Bilderback. Jerry Gille was third with Matt Berger in fourth. Jon Reynolds Jr. was fifth.

“We had a great car tonight,” Sargent stated. “Ricky kept running me clean, he is a good friend and we had a good night.”

Gantz held off Brock Behnke for his second Bargain Hunters Sportsman feature win of the season. Kyle Watters was the early lead of the 25-lap feature event.

A caution flew on lap 5 when David Lounsbury went to the inside of Watters for the lead. Lounsbury went into the turn real hard and drove into the side of Watters causing both to spin. Watters got his spot back while Lounsbury was sent to the rear.

Watters continued to lead until Gantz got alongside of him with 11 laps to go. Gantz would take over the top spot a lap later with Brock Behnke right behind him.

The last five laps were tense as Behnke would get on the inside of Gantz numerous times, but each time Gantz was able to hold on to the lead and then the win over Behnke.

Tory Bagley was third with Butch Swinbank in fourth. Fred Nason rounded out the top five.

Marocco collected another feature win in the Coca-Cola RoadRunner division.

Mike Vines was the early leader in the 20-lap feature event. But his lead would only last for three laps as Marocco got by Vines for the lead on lap 4.

Marocco would enjoy an early Father’s Day drive around the Speedway as he picks up another win. Terrance Robinson would try to catch Marocco but would come up short to finish second. Robert Roush was third with Richard Nielsen in fourth. Joshua Lundy rounded out the top five.

Myers held off of Jim Termanes to win the Adult Supercup feature.

Myers grabbed the lead at the start of the 25-lap event and held off numerous challenges from Termanes to take the win. Erik Gehrke was third with Erle Hoth in fourth. Mick Ellis was fifth.

Zellmer won the Junior SuperCups feature after he took the lead at the halfway mark of the 20-lap feature event. It was Garrett Goodwin with the early lead but Zellmer was able to catch him and make the pass on the inside and pulled away for the win.

Kyle Brinkmann was third with Cody Lipstreuer in fourth. Alyssa Metallo rounded out the top five.

The evening concluded with Gary Oscarson doing a school bus jump right into a motorhome. Oscarson was able to drive away to jump again another day. The motorhome, well, is not looking good.

It’s Kid’s Night next Saturday night at the Rockford Speedway. All Kids 11 and under will get in for FREE and will get to participate in a Kid’s Penny Gold Rush.

It will also be another evening of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series action with the Stanley Steemer NASCAR Late Models, Bargain Hunter Sportsman, Budweiser American Short Trackers and Coca-Cola RoadRunners in action with the first race at 7:07 pm.
