Goblin 250, BBQ Fest, Demo Derbies and Music this Sunday

Over one hundred cars will jam pack the high banks of Rockford Speedway this Sunday afternoon October 21 for the Goblin 250 Enduro. The first half will pit man versus machine on the oval course, a challenge in its self as debris and other cars help to make a complete mess. Then, following the kid’s candy treat scramble during the halfway break, drivers will face the ‘Monza Course’, a tricky course through the infield which creates confusion and action throughout the remainder of the event.

New this year is the addition of the Miller Lite Blazin’ BBQ Festival which pits area fire fighter teams against one another in an effort to raise needed funds for the Illinois Burn Camp. Teams will be selling their delicious sandwiches for $5 each starting at noon on the Speedway grounds.

Fans will also be treated to the Darkhorse Demo Derbies, a total of four metal mangling divisions will crash and bash in the demo derby arena.

Following the action on the track, get ready to enjoy a live performance by Cylinder Six in the Miller Lite Pavilion.

Spectator gates open at 11am with the racing action beginning at 1pm. Kids are invited to arrive early to be in the Kid’s Costume Contest at 12:40pm. Adult tickets are $12 for Sunday, students $8, ages 6-11 are $5 with kids 5 and under once again being admitted at no charge. One ticket gets you in for the entire day of fun! New Entries Being Accepted for Bahama Bracket Nationals
Due to last weekend's weather system that drenched Rockford Speedway, entries are once again being accepted for the Bahama Bracket Nationals, now scheduled for Saturday and Sunday October 27 and 28. Nearly two hundred race teams helped fill the pit area and the two week delay allows for more competitors to join in the fun which places cars into brackets based on their qualifying speeds rather than by class. The top bracket, the A Bracket traditionally consists of Mid-American Stock Cars, Dirt and Asphalt Limited Late Models as well as Modifieds, Sportsman and one of a kind machines. The four cylinder brackets have grown in popularity each year as well, chances are if you have a racecar you can compete. An open practice session is slated for 5pm Friday October 26 followed by two days of the most exciting racing of the season. For entry forms, an updated schedule of events and additional information, visit www.rockfordspeedway.com or call the Speedway Box Office at 815-633-1500. Pit
credentials from the original event will be honored again during the new weekend.
