This Saturday night at Rockford Speedway is going to be a very special one, as we honor one of the most familiar faces in the history of the track. Saturday night will be ‘Stan Burdick Night’, honoring a man who has been a part of racing at our facility since day one in 1948! The day will get underway with a reception in Stan’s honor, which will start at 3 pm under the Party Pavilion. The public is invited to attend and many familiar faces are planning on returning for this special event. The party will then move to the track as Round II of the Gilley’s Cool 5 takes center stage. The main event of the night will be the Stanley Steemer NASCAR Late Model ‘Star Spangled 76.’ The Bargain Hunter Sportsman, Miller Lite American Short Trackers and Rockstar Energy Drink Roadrunners will also be on hand, making Stan Burdick Night a ‘Saturday Night Supershow!’ Please join us as we salute a great personality and a ‘Speedway original” this Saturday night! Spectator gates open at 5 pm Saturday, with qualifying at 5:55pm and the first race at 7:07pm. Adult general admission tickets are $12, students ages 12-17 are $8 and kids 6-11 are $5 and all kids 5 and under are free!
“STAR SPANGLED 76” BOASTS DEEP FIELD AND A RETURNING TRACK CHAMPION!
On track Saturday night, it will be “One Hot Night”, with the 7th running of the Star Spangled 76 lap feature for the Stanley Steemer NASCAR Late Models. The 76 lapper is the most grueling, yet rewarding race for the “weekly warriors” all season long. A $976 dollar payday awaits the winner, but that sum of cash is merely the start. With the Gerber Collision and Glass Ultimate Challenge still unclaimed at $1100, it’s possible for one Late Model driver to leave Rockford Speedway Saturday night $2076 richer! The field of Late Models will be the deepest of the season, including point leader Alex Papini, who is looking to return to victory lane this Saturday night in search of his sixth Late Model win of the year. Last week’s feature winner, and two-time Star Spangled 76 winner, “Driver X” Jon Reynolds Jr will be gunning for his third feature win in the last four races. Three-time track champion and 2008 76 lap winner Jerry Gille has been close to a win in recent weeks, will Saturday night be his return to victory lane? Seven time Rockford Speedway track champion Ricky “the Rocket” Bilderback will make his return to the high banks this Saturday night, along with former Spring Classic and All Star 100 winner Michael Bilderback! You won’t want to miss the Star Spangled 76!
