Goodyear Stateline Challenge This Weekend

LOVES PARK, IL (Tuesday, July 01, 2008) – Officials at both Jefferson (WI) Speedway and Rockford (IL) Speedway are gearing for the first ever Goodyear Stateline Challenge starting this Thursday night at Jefferson Speedway and concluding on Saturday night at Rockford Speedway.

This two-day event will feature the late model and sportsman drivers who compete weekly at each track.

This event will follow the Jefferson Speedway/Rockford Speedway rules & weights that apply at each track. There is no registration fee and the pit passes will be $20 each night with the competitor’s home track membership.

The first event will take place on Thursday, July 3 at Jefferson Speedway with the running of the Old Glory 50 that will pay $550 to win and $125 to start. Pit gates open at 2 pm with practice starting at 3 pm. Qualifying will start at 5 pm with the first race at 8 pm.

The second event will be two nights later at Rockford Speedway with the Star Spangled 76 that will pay $676 to win and $140 to start. Pit gates open at 3 pm with practice at 4 pm. Qualifying will start at 5:30 pm with racing at 7:07 pm.

Home track qualifying, line-up and race procedures will be utilized at each track.

Competitors who pre-register and compete in both events will be eligible for the Goodyear Stateline Challenge Point Fund. You can pre-register by calling either (920) 648-2705 or (815) 633-1500.

The Champion will receive two Goodyear 2862 or 2863 tires, an embroidered Goodyear champion’s Jacket plus a Giant Goodyear Stateline Challenge Championship Trophy. Second place will receive $100 and a FREE Goodyear tire. The top 12 overall will receive at least a free Goodyear tire.

Also on the schedule for each event will be the Sportsman Shootout with the Cheesehead 30 at Jefferson and the Flatlander 25 at Rockford, along with FIREWORKS at the end of each event.

Both track promoters, Terry Tucker at Jefferson and Gregg McKarns at Rockford, have announced that two provisionals will be given for Rockford competitors at Jefferson event while two provisionals will be given to Jefferson competitors at the Rockford event for both the late model and sportsman divisions.
