A familiar face is looking to return to his winning ways at Rockford Speedway this September.
Eddie Hoffman, a three-time winner of the National Short Track Championship (NSTC), has filed his entry for the 48th running of the fabled event, to be held Friday September 27 through Sunday September 29th at the 66 year old facility.
Hoffman will return to Rockford Speedway looking for his fourth win in this prestigious event and his first triumph since 2005. Hoffman’s first National Short Track Championship victory came back in 2001, outlasting Steve Carlson and Brian Hoppe for the victory in what was the longest NSTC feature ever at 406 laps. Hoffman would also bag back-to-back NSTC wins in 2004 and 2005, topping the very best of the CRA Super Series on both occasions.
Recent years have seen Hoffman come close to capturing his fourth NSTC crown, including runner-up finishes in 2008 and 2010 along with a third place finish in 2009. Last year, Hoffman would get swept up in an incident just past halfway, regulating the veteran Chicagoland racer to a ninth place finish.
Hoffman will be gunning for that fourth NSTC trophy piloting the TK Racing Lisa Thomas Salon Ford Fusion. The combo of Hoffman and TK Racing has garnered four major Late Model wins at Rockford Speedway over the last ten years.
The 48th Annual National Short Track Championships will take place Friday September 27th through Sunday September 29th at Rockford Speedway in Loves Park, IL. 14 divisions will be competing over the three days featuring Super Late Models, the Big 8 Late Model Series, Great Northern Sportsman Series, Mid-American Stock Car Series and much more.
Hoffman and the rest of the Super Late Models will qualify and run qualifying races on Saturday, September 28th with the 200-lap National Short Track Championship taking place on Sunday afternoon September 29th
