As the 2013 racing season winds down at Rockford Speedway and nationwide, some of Rockford's very own are vying for some national attention and a trip to Charlotte this December.
Rockstar Energy Drink Roadrunner drivers Arlyn Roush and Terrance Robinson currently sit first and third respectively in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Finalist Program in Division IV. The NASCAR Finalist Division program recognizes drivers who compete in support divisions at NASCAR Whelen All American Series tracks. With Division I being each track’s top division, the NASCAR Finalist Division line-up at each track highlights drivers competing in their second, third, fourth and fifth tier divisions. Through Sept. 15 a NASCAR-licensed driver’s best 14 finishes are counted toward their final point total for the year. Points are kept separately for dirt and asphalt tracks.
Arlyn Roush has won a division leading five features this season at Rockford Speedway while finishing in the top ten 17 times in 18 starts. Roush is looking to put the finishing touches on his first ever Roadrunner Track Championship this weekend. Arlyn could join his brother Robert as a Roadrunner champion at Rockford Speedway, as Robert laid claim to the Roadrunner Track Championship and the Division IV National Championship back in 2010.
Terrance Robinson has had a very solid 2013 season in the Roadrunner division, winning two features and finishing in the top ten 16 times in 18 starts. Robinson is a former Roadrunner Track Champion at Rockford Speedway, claiming the division's top honor in 2008.
The top three finishers in each Finalist Division will be recognized Friday night December 6th in Charlotte, North Carolina during the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Banquet.
