It took a while for 2010 RoadRunner Champion Robert Roush to figure out the handle on his new ride, but once he did he set sail at Rockford Speedway during Yellowbook Car Load Night. Terry Ciano, Jr was victorious in Bandit action, Wanda Dobbs bested the twelve car Winged Women on Wheels field as Vernon Brown and Cory Cootware recorded Misfit wins. Derek Dobbs ended up at the front of the field following an intense collision in the X during Figure 8 competition between early leader Dennis Smith, Jr and Jeff Watson, Jr. Both drivers were able to walk away under their own power, the same could not be said for their mangled racers.

The Big Horsepower of Super Late Model racing will be on display this Saturday July 14 during the Miller Lite All-Star 100 at Rockford Speedway. Former event winners Rich Bickle (1989) and Ryan Carlson (2010) are amongst the early entries. Speeds of nearly one hundred miles per hour will be seen as the cars dive onto the big high banks for one hundred action packed laps. Many observers feel the track record of 12.772 seconds (82.305MPH) set in October of 2010 by Brian Johnson, Jr is in jeopardy of being broken this Saturday. With the combination of four barrel carburetors and the new Hoosier Racing Tire F-25/F-48 compound being utilized, records are likely to be set during Race Car Help Qualifying.

Steve Strasburg of Race Car Help has lent his support to this Saturday’s Miller Lite All-Star 100 at Rockford Speedway. The Super Late Model fast qualifier will be awarded a $100 product certificate as well as $100 cash on behalf of RCH. With the big horsepower engines and new Hoosier Racing Tire Compound (F-25 and F-48) being utilized at Rockford for the first time, many think the track record of 12.772 seconds (82.305MPH) held by Brian Johnson, Jr may be surpassed.

Just five years ago, Austin Nason would have been able to take advantage of the free admission offered to ages eleven and under during Bobcat of Rockford Wrecking and Racing night at Rockford Speedway. On Saturday, the sixteen year old recorded his first ever NASCAR Stanley Steemer Late Model triumph holding off two time Champion Jerry Gille in the process. Former Miller Lite American Short Tracker Champion Kyle Lapier recorded win number one of the 2012 season and young Jake Aldrich was another first time winner in Crap Scrapper Hornet action. Jim Burns in his Mechanical Mischief Monster Truck wowed the crowd which braved the record heat wave and were treated to cooler temperatures and a two hundred foot wheelie by Burns down the front stretch. The night concluded with a true piece of Americana, Doug Rose and his Green Mamba Jet Car destroyed a Chrysler 300 and in the process lit the night sky with a shower of sparks which eventually caught nearly fifty percent of the infield
grass ablaze, rescue crews from Loves Park Fire Department and Rockford Speedway quickly extinguished the flames.
