LOVES PARK, IL (Thursday, September 27, 2012) – It has been about five years since Adam Royle made the trip from Lonsdale, MN to the famous Rockford Speedway for the National Short Track Championships. He will make his return this weekend with the blessing of his kids.

The 47th annual National Short Track Championships will take place this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Rockford Speedway. The Championship Round of the Gilley’s Cool 5 Series helps kick off ‘One Great Racing Weekend’ as the Weekly Warrior Late Models, Sportsman, American Short Trackers and RoadRunners battle for over $12,000 in point fund money. Also on the card is the Hornet/Bandit Challenge and the Figure 8 Championship. Racing will begin at 7:07 Friday night, Jon Reynolds, Jr holds a slim five point lead in the GC5 Series standings while Derek Dobbs and Dennis Smith, Jr find themselves tied atop the Figure 8 charts.

The Championship scenarios for both the Gilley’s Cool 5 Series as well as the Big 8 Late Model Series presented by Gandrud Chevrolet will be impacted greatly during the 47th annual National Short Track Championships at Rockford Speedway September 28-30. The Stanley Steemer 47 for the Weekly Warrior Late Models will determine the Gilley’s Cool 5 Champion of Friday night while the 108 lap contest for the Big 8 Series on Saturday Night will be a key component in figuring the series Champion.

LOVES PARK, IL (Tuesday, September 25, 2012) – A great mix of past champions and hopeful champions are on the entry list for the 2012 National Short Track Super Late Models for this weekend’s 47th Annual National Short Track Championships at Rockford Speedway in Loves Park, IL. The Super Late Models will qualify and have qualifying races on Saturday night in preparation for Sunday’s 200-lap main event.

This Saturday Night will be like no other at Rockford Speedway as the pure destruction of the Night of Thrills lights up the night. Never before and possibly never again, we are going to attempt to jump a School Bus through the Ferris Wheel of Destruction. Standing over 40 feet tall, it is believed to be the first stunt of its kind, you don’t want to miss this!
Monster Truck Madness invades the Speedway as well as Big Dawg makes his return to take on TailGator. The fire breathing, car destroying power of the Green Mamba Jet, Crap Scrapper Hornets, Roll Over Contest, Spectacular Drags, Tough Truck Tug-of-Wars, Hillbilly Fun with Airbags, Auto Soccer, the Limo Steel Wall Crash, Smokey Burnout Contest and Stunt Bikes are just some of the fun activities planned during Night of Thrills.
Spectator Gates open at 5pm, Thrills start at 7:07pm. Reserved seating in the main grandstands is $18 for adults and $9 for ages 11 and under. The backstretch bleacher seating is general admission, tickets are available for $15 for adults and $5 for ages 11 and under.
